What moves it

What this number can and cannot say
This is where a rider is BASED, not where the fuel was burned. We do not record the location of a fill, so a Kerala rider on a long trip north still counts as Kerala. Read it as "riders based in", never as "mileage in".
The bar
30 clean fills from 10 riders in each side of the comparison, on the same model, with the gap between the sides bigger than the spread inside them. Pooled across the whole catalog only once 5 models have each cleared that on their own and point the same way.
Every tank counted here was logged by a rider, full tank to full tank. Partial fills and missed fills are thrown out before anything is counted. How that works
